Transfer/Assignment of Claim (Limited User)

NOTE: A fee will be charged for EACH claim transferred.  The fee must be paid upon filing of the claims transfer in CM/ECF using ACH debit or credit card through Pay.gov

  1. Select Bankruptcy > Claims Actions
  2. Enter Case Number (e.g. xx-xxxxx).  Click Next.
  3. Select Transfer/Assignment of Claim from the event list.  Click Next.
  4. Click Next to skip the "Select any additional attorney(s)" screen. Click "OK" regarding the "Note:  you have not selected an attorney" message.
  5. Select the Party filer.  Click Next.
    • If the party is not listed, click on Add/Create New Party.
  6. Select Choose File to browse and select the pdf file. Click Next.
  7. Click on the Claim# that is being transferred. The claim number will appear in the "Claims Selected" text box. Click Next.
  8. Click Next to skip the "Claims No. Status" screen.
  9. Select the following:
    • The correct "Transfer type" (i.e. 3001(e)1, 3001(e)2, 3001(e)3, or 3001(e)4)
    • Search for the "Transferee" by clicking on "Search Creditors" or "Add New Creditor" if the Transferee's name and address is not listed under "Search Creditors".
    • Search for the "Transferor" by clicking on "Search Creditors". 
    • You may have to scroll through the creditor list in order to locate the Transferor.
    • Once you find the correct Transferor and correct claim number (it will be listed beside the creditor's name), click to highlight name and then click on Select.
    • Make sure the correct creditor and correct claim number appear.
    • Click Next.
  10. Fee Screen. Click Next.
  11. If needed, modify the text according to the court's procedures. Click Next.
  12. Verify the final docket text before submitting.  If correct, click Next.
    CAUTION!!  This is the last screen.  Clicking Next will submit your document to CM/ECF.  If the final docket text is incorrect, click the Back button to find the screen to modify or abort the transaction by clicking on Bankruptcy on the CM/ECF Menu bar.
  13. Notice of Electronic Filing/Receipt screen displays
    The Notice of Electronic Filing certifies that this pleading is now an official court document.
