Deleting temporary internet files (clearing the cache)

In order for information to be displayed properly in ECF it is sometimes necessary to clear the "cache" or temporary internet files that are stored on your PC.

Web browsers store the files needed to display websites that you have visited, which speeds up browsing. However, one side effect is that you may not see updates that are made to CM/ECF unless you delete those temporary files.

Internet Explorer

  • Click on the gear icon in the upper right. (For older versions, select the Tools menu).
  • Select Safety > Delete Browsing History (the shortcut keys are Control+Shift+Delete).
  • Select Temporary Internet Files just to clear the cache.
  • Select Delete

Firefox

  • From the History menu, select Clear Recent History (the shortcut keys are Control+Shift+Delete)
  • From Time range to clear drop-down menu, select the applicable option, (i.e. Everything).
  • Under History, check which options are applicable.
  • Select Clear Now
